Procedures:

Medical Abortion (abortion pill) (up to 10 weeks)

A medical abortion is done using two medications: mifepristone and misoprostol. Patients who choose this method are given mifepristone in the clinic. Then, they take the second medication 6-24 hours later, usually at home. Patients will experience bleeding and cramping that will likely be heavier than their usual periods, as they pass the pregnancy.

Some patients may choose a medical abortion because it can be completed in the privacy of their home and is less invasive. About 7 out of 100 women who choose medical abortion will need an aspiration abortion because the pregnancy did not completely pass from the uterus or to stop bleeding.

First Trimester Procedures (up to 12th week of pregnancy)

The procedure may be either suction aspiration or dilation and evacuation.  Either is considered very low risk. We offer a variety of options to manage your pain relief and comfort. Most of our patients report that they feel no discomfort during the procedure. If you select intravenous sedation, you will be unable to drive and will need to have someone take you home. The procedure normally lasts less than 5 minutes, and your total in-clinic time is usually less than 2 hours.

Second Trimester Procedures (13 – 26 weeks)

The procedure used is suction aspiration and dilation and evacuation, which are also considered very low-risk. We offer a variety of options to manage your pain relief and comfort. Most of our patients report that they feel no discomfort during the procedure. For some pain-relief medications, you will not be able to drive and will need to have someone pick you up.

If your pregnancy is over 13 weeks, we may give you a medication 1-2 hours before the procedure to help prepare your cervix and enable us to perform the procedure more easily. In most cases up to 16 weeks the procedure can be completed the same day. The procedure normally lasts less than 15 minutes, and your total in-clinic time is usually less than 2 hours.

If your pregnancy is from 16 to 26 weeks, we will complete the procedure over two days. Your total time in the clinic is usually less than 3 hours each day, and the procedure normally lasts less than 20 minutes on the second day.

Sedation Services

We have ANESTHESIA PROVIDERS on site who will create a comfort plan with you to ensure we are meeting your needs. Our goal is to ensure that you feel no discomfort during any of the procedures. With some medications, you will not be able to drive and will need to have someone pick you up. If you have any questions, please contact us or call our office at 253-471-3464.

Cost of Services

We accept most private insurances to include WA state Medicaid. We also offer a sliding fee scale for cash pay clients based on annual income and offer a discount with military ID.  Prices are variant by gestational weeks, type of procedure, and additional services. Contact us for a private quote.

After an Abortion

We require anywhere from 1-3 follow up appointments for Medical Abortions; and strongly encourage a follow up appointment 2-3 weeks after a Surgical abortion. Depending on the type of procedure, most women can return to their routine activities the following day. It is normal to experience mild discomfort (cramping) or light bleeding/spotting anywhere from 3-8 weeks after an abortion. In addition, pregnancy tests often time remain positive for several weeks after having an abortion. If you are experiencing any concerns after a recent abortion, please contact us at 253-471-3464.

Abortion is normal, Abortion is safe, Abortion is healthcare.
